We use diatomaceus earth(DE) and boric acid. DE scratches the waxy outer coating of the insect so that they dehydrate. Boric acid acts as a stomach poison to insects, but it is less toxic than table salt to mammals.

Aztec uses natural pyrethrin in a micro-encapsulated formula that releases gradually, which gives residual control of unwanted insect pests. In some cases we use carefully selected synthetic pyrethrin formulas which are also micro-encapsulated. They are water based and have no odor. The customer can always choose the totally natural route and still see excellent results.

Pyrethrin powder is totally natural and is derived from the chrysanthemum flower. Unlike people, cold-blooded insects have insufficient nerve ganglia (centers) to handle this product, so it is toxic to them.

For fire ants, we use bait products such as Extinguish, Ascend or Award, all of which affect their reproduction by targeting the queens. Although the products take 6-8 weeks to fully take effect, once they do, the treatment is long lasting, eliminating the need for frequent treatments.

On the outside perimeter of the home we use a granular product that is a blend of thyme, wintergreen and clove. It can be applied during wet and dry conditions. It has a very pleasant, natural odor. This product is very effective in treating scorpions, centipedes and spiders.

For effective flea treatment we use beneficial nematodes in the yard and boric acid in the carpet. The outside area to be treated must be soaked prior to the visit and kept damp for a couple of days after wards until the nematodes can burrow down into the soil. They then live off flea larvae. Inside, the carpet needs to be vacuumed prior to treating. Care must be taken so that the fleas don't hatch in the vacuum bag. Either treat the bag with a little boric acid powder or throw the bag out.
