Looking for Pests In the Spring

When the weather starts to warm up like it is this week around Austin, it is a great time to inspect for pest issues. But before looking for actual pests, look around your home and outside for potential pest nesting spots. This could be anything from a stack of cardboard boxes in the garage to piles of rock or stone near the house. Clearing out brush, debris, piles of leaves any potential hiding spots can…

Creating A Pest Free Home

New houses typically have fewer pest issues thanks to fewer “cracks and crevices” that often appear around older homes, but sometimes that newness can lead to homeowners becoming a little too comfortable and missing opportunities to set up pest prevention techniques. In fact, moving in to a new house is the perfect time to take a few extra steps and ensure it remains as pest free as possible for as long as possible. No home…

Drought, Heat and Insects!

As if the brutally hot temperatures around Austin and central Texas weren’t bad enough, it can also mean more insects. When summer is at its peak, many pests will seek out shelter, food and water. While some may go away from your home and hide in cool areas or near any remaining standing water — like mosquitoes — others will actively seek shelter closer to home, as in your actual home. Pest Control and Clearing Out Debris

Removing that debris allows air flow and sunlight to dry it while also eradicating potential hiding and breeding spots for bugs. Everything from scorpions to roaches to spiders and ants…

Bugs in the Winter

It’s about to get REALLY cold here in Austin for the first time this year. So what happens to bugs when the temperature drops this low? Ants, as you might expect, stay underground where it’s a little warmer. They’ll stay in their colony until the weather warms again. In Austin that can be just a few days later, so it’s not impossible that you’ll see ants again even after a cold snap. But more commonly…

We specialize in long-lasting treatments using products in a way that effectively kills bugs but has no impact on people. No contracts are needed. We treat more than once a year about as often as we skip years between treatments.

Aztec’s philosophy is to provide the most effective pest control service available, having the least negative impact on people and the environment here in Austin, Texas. We use a combination of the least toxic and most effective pest control products available.

We originally offered pest control using only natural, “organic” pest control products. While we still offer that service, we now combine those products with a low-toxicity, odorless, synthetic pyrethrin (crushed chrysanthemum flower), offering a longer-lasting residual effect.
