Fire Ants Inside?
Okay, so they’re always a problem in Texas in the summer, but now they’re a BIG problem for many folks.
As temperatures stay over 100 with no rain in sight, we are getting calls about fire ants coming inside. This can happen if you don’t spot them in your yard and they don’t get treated sooner. They will move around the yard and the foraging worker ants can get inside and find food or water. Then you’ll have many uninvited guests for the summer.
The solution, luckily, is relatively simple. We put out a low-toxicity bait that is people and pet-friendly. We also spray around the perimeter of the home to create a barrier that handles any ants coming inside. We of course can knock back the ones that are already inside as well.
The real solution though is that bait in the yard. Fire ants find it nearly irresistible and they take it quickly down into the colony to share, including to the queen. The result is your home and yard are free of fire ants.
