Swarming Winged Ants
Swarmers are winged ants that are most commonly seen in the spring, but we’ve also seen a few in the fall when the weather changes slightly.
These are not dangerous! They are simply there because they launched out from a nest (not even one necessarily close to your home) in order to try to expand their presence.
If they are outside, such as on a fence or tree, you can usually ignore them. If they are inside, they may not justify a major treatment either. You can vacuum or sweep them up.
What they can signify is the potential presence of a nearby nest or colony which should be treated.
Since they are winged swarmers, there often isn’t a nest nearby. If you walk around your home or property and also see non-winged ants climbing on your house or in your lawn or showing up inside, that is the sign of needing a full ant treatment.
