Handling Ants Inside Your Home
- Small black ants – these are tiny ants that are most often seen on kitchen and bathroom counters. They usually come in for water and to find any small morsel that may be laying around.
- Fire ants – these are obvious when there are mounds in the yard, but these terrible Texas troublemakers can also get inside if they aren’t caught and stopped in the yard in time.
They will also search for and find food inside and often cat and dog dishes are their target.
- Carpenter ants/Acrobat ants – these two both climb onto and up the outside of your home. They usually stay out, but if left untreated, they can show up indoors. They don’t eat wood like termites, but they can leave wood debris (it looks a bit like sawdust) around window sills or wood beams or sometimes even poking a small hole in a corner of the room and leaving their mess around.
