Mystery Droppings?
“What are these droppings in my house?”
Not a pleasant topic, but it is inevitable that pest droppings appear in people’s homes from time to time. These usually break down into a couple of categories:
Rodent droppings
Typically the most concerning of course are droppings from a mouse, rat or other rodent. In some cases raccoons can even get into attics and leave behind messes.
If you’re not sure what type of dropping it is, you can take a picture of it and send it to use by text or email. We can help identify the evidence and give you a suggestion on what to do next.
Insect droppings
The main culprit are roaches in this category. American roaches, or tree roaches, leave behind small pellet like droppings, which are “individual” and separated. German roaches have more of a ground peppery like droppings in greater amounts, mostly because there are usually more of this type of roach in a particular area.
Another type of “dropping” which isn’t waste, but does get left behind, is the debris from carpenter ants. This is a fine sawdust-type material that they literally push out of holes in the wall. It tends to pile up in corners or around windowsills. It can contain little “ant pieces” which are how they dispose of dead ants in their colony.
Whichever type of dropping or evidence you are seeing we can help identify it, and treat for it.

We specialize in long-lasting treatments using products in a way that effectively kills bugs but has no impact on people. No contracts are needed. We treat more than once a year about as often as we skip years between treatments.
Aztec’s philosophy is to provide the most effective pest control service available, having the least negative impact on people and the environment here in Austin, Texas. We use a combination of the least toxic and most effective pest control products available.
We originally offered pest control using only natural, “organic” pest control products. While we still offer that service, we now combine those products with a low-toxicity, odorless, synthetic pyrethrin (crushed chrysanthemum flower), offering a longer-lasting residual effect.
