But if your floors are wood, tile etc., or the carpets are very small or flat with a low pile, then doing a thorough and regular vacuuming and mopping is the most-effective non-chemical solution to fleas. For small area rugs you can vacuum and launder them since dryer heat for 20 to 30 minutes will kill all the fleas. When vacuuming and cleaning you really want to focus on where the pets lay down. And don’t ever remove the pet from the home! This will cause the fleas to jump on you when you pass by or trigger them.
