pest control
Pests around Austin Texas are most active in warmer months and in particular spring through summer and sometimes into the fall, depending on the weather that year.
Austin homeowners sometimes call us and say “I have bugs, but it doesn’t make sense because we’re really clean,” to which we point out “Ok, but what about that bag of potato chips you left on the counter last night?” Just kidding. We don’t judge. While we do say that cleanliness is important (thanks, Mom!), we also let people know that you can have a spotless home without even a crumb lying around and still…
Pest control has a long history, longer than you may realize. In fact, ancient Sumerians as long ago as 3000 BC are considered to be the first to use “chemical” pest control means, employing sulfur mixtures as insecticides. Just after they discovered that, the first Sumerian Pest Control salesperson knocked on a door and said they’d have some technicians in the neighborhood so if you would like to sign up here for a quarterly pest…
As Austin temperatures rise, we get more calls about ants crawling on people’s homes. These are typically wood boring ants such as carpenter ants or acrobat ants. These ants do not eat wood like termites do, so structural damage is usually minimal, but they can be tough to deal with if left untreated. If left alone for too long, they can show up inside the home. Swarming Wood Ants Are you seeing ants with wings…
If you suspect that your yard may be infested with fleas, beneficial nematodes are a good choice for control. They are microscopic worms that are broadcast into the soil. They feed on flea larvae and can also help with fire ants, white flies, grubs among other undesirable lawn pests. If you pull white socks over your ankles and walk around the yard for a few minutes you should be able to see fleas that jump…
Fire ant baits are an effective, low toxicity option for dealing with fire ants, but they need to be applied under the correct conditions. The bait should be applied when the ground is dry and the fire ants are foraging. We want the ants to take a viable amount of bait in the first couple of hours after application while it is fresh. The ideal soil temperature is between 70-95 degrees at 1” below the…

Silverfish can live in envelopes and will eat clothing and do damage to papers, etc if left unchecked. They are usually found in stored boxes. You can purchase silverfish baits online, and if they are fresh, they can be effective. We recommend buying a roach powder (99% orthoboric acid, 1% inert ingredients) and dusting boxes that have papers, etc in them (available at Home Depot, etc). If you have papers stored in your attic, they…

We specialize in long-lasting treatments using products in a way that effectively kills bugs but has no impact on people. No contracts are needed. We treat more than once a year about as often as we skip years between treatments.
Aztec’s philosophy is to provide the most effective pest control service available, having the least negative impact on people and the environment here in Austin, Texas. We use a combination of the least toxic and most effective pest control products available.
We originally offered pest control using only natural, “organic” pest control products. While we still offer that service, we now combine those products with a low-toxicity, odorless, synthetic pyrethrin (crushed chrysanthemum flower), offering a longer-lasting residual effect.

"I highly recommend Aztec Organic Pest Services"
After researching pest control on Yelp last year, I called Aztec and they were willing to work with me and very understanding (without even the slightest hint of eye-rolling I received from another company) about areas I did not want sprayed – I need the spiders and ladybugs around my…
