Cigarette & Drugstore beetles are the the most common pests of stored products. They most commonly get into pantry items like grains, spices, flour, seeds, dog food etc. They are oval, brown and about 1/16-1/8 of an inch long. They have wings and will sometimes fly. Sanitation is really the best way to deal with these pests as pesticides only have an effect on adults and are not very effective. Everything in the pantry should be suspect except canned items. Throw away infested items or you can heat items at 125 degrees for 4 hours or freeze items for six days. Vacuuming areas where beetles are found is also important, be thorough and get  all crack/crevices and even the underside of shelves. These beetles do not bite and do not carry disease.
