How Does Pest Control Work?

Pest control is not just a matter of spraying around a house until all the bugs are dead. Of course, the goal is no more bugs. But that goal takes some work.

First, different pests demand different products as well as different application techniques. For example, what works to eliminate roaches won’t always work to eliminate ants.

Even further, what works to eliminate an American cockroach isn’t necessarily effective in treating German roaches.

And some products, such as those for most ants, are intentionally designed to work slowly. That way, ants access the product and then have time to take it back to a nest before it eliminates them. It then gets to many more pests, such as using a slower acting pesticide spray that is applied along their path.

This is a good reason why we recommend customers don’t spray pests directly themselves with consumer-brand products. Consumer level bug sprays are typically fast acting with a quick knockdown. That’s great for pests you see, but there may be additional pests not visible and are not reached. The result is you will likely see pests again. It also makes professional treatment more challenging since those pests are now dispersed and likely harder to find or track down.

The bottom line is that pest control products and professional pest control application requires various tools and know-how in order to successfully handle the issue.

We specialize in long-lasting treatments using products in a way that effectively kills bugs but has no impact on people. No contracts are needed. We treat more than once a year about as often as we skip years between treatments.

Aztec’s philosophy is to provide the most effective pest control service available, having the least negative impact on people and the environment here in Austin, Texas. We use a combination of the least toxic and most effective pest control products available.

We originally offered pest control using only natural, “organic” pest control products. While we still offer that service, we now combine those products with a low-toxicity, odorless, synthetic pyrethrin (crushed chrysanthemum flower), offering a longer-lasting residual effect.
