Large Ants
They can climb onto houses from trees, adjoining fences, utility lines or just make a path to your home along the ground.
Because they often come from trees, it is a good idea to trim back any bushes or tree branches that are touching the house. Not only does this help prevent damage from those scraping along a wall or roof, but it removes that pathway for the ants. Keeping trees and branches off your home is an important preventive step for these ants, and many pests and insects.
These big ants don’t eat wood like a termite does. They do however burrow in and extract the wood along their path. They will deposit this near their entry point or sometimes even make a new hole in an interior wall where they dump out that material. This sawdust like debris is called “frass” and is a strong indication of active carpenter or acrobat ants around your home. It’s also a helpful indicator of their location for our pest control technicians, so it’s best to leave it there until we arrive.
If you are seeing sawdust-like debris, large ants around your windows or crawling up the side of your home, call us for a free carpenter ant quote at 512-443-0123. You can also fill out our website form for an email response.

We specialize in long-lasting treatments using products in a way that effectively kills bugs but has no impact on people. No contracts are needed. We treat more than once a year about as often as we skip years between treatments.
Aztec’s philosophy is to provide the most effective pest control service available, having the least negative impact on people and the environment here in Austin, Texas. We use a combination of the least toxic and most effective pest control products available.
We originally offered pest control using only natural, “organic” pest control products. While we still offer that service, we now combine those products with a low-toxicity, odorless, synthetic pyrethrin (crushed chrysanthemum flower), offering a longer-lasting residual effect.
