Wolf spiders are one of the most common spiders and are considered beneficial because of the pests that they consume. They do not spin webs but are active hunters in your yard at night. These spiders are often misidentified as brown recluse but are generally not harmful and will only bite if handled or provoked. If you shine a flashlight into your yard at night you may see the sparkles of the wolf spider’s eyes reflecting the light. Random wolf spiders could end up in your home, but they do not infest homes. Sealing up gaps around doors and windows can go a long way to keep them from entering structures.
