Cigarette & Drugstore Beetles

Cigarette & Drugstore beetles are the the most common pests of stored products. They most commonly get into pantry items like grains, spices, flour, seeds, dog food etc. They are oval, brown and about 1/16-1/8 of an inch long. They have wings and will sometimes fly. Sanitation is really the best way to deal with these pests as pesticides only have an effect on adults and are not very effective. Everything in the pantry should…

Carpet Beetles

Carpet beetles are tough pests to control because of their ability to find food in obscure places. Sanitation generally works better than the use of insecticides. Regular and thorough cleaning of rugs, drapes and other locations where carpet beetles congregate is an important preventive and control method. Frequent, thorough vacuuming is the best way of removing food sources as well as carpet beetle eggs, larvae,…

We offer a very safe mosquito service.  It is our opinion that the services that give lengthy…

Wolf Spiders

Wolf spiders are one of the most common spiders and are considered beneficial because of the pests that they consume. They do not spin webs but are active hunters in your yard at night. These spiders are often misidentified as brown recluse but are generally not harmful and will only bite if handled or provoked. If you shine a flashlight into your yard at night you may see the sparkles of the wolf spider’s eyes…

House Geckos

House geckos are often found in the yard or on the home. They are beneficial because they eat pests, including cockroaches. Most people don’t mind having them on the home but do not like it when they find one inside. The best way to keep them out is to seal cracks around windows/doors with caulk and handle other potential entry points. These reptiles lay eggs and lose their tail as a defense mechanism against predators.…

Silverfish

Silverfish are difficult to get a handle on. The feed on paper, bookbinding glue and other types of cellulose & natural fibers. They tend to stay close to their food source but are often found in kitchens/bathrooms when they need water.  They thrive in humidity.  They can live in envelopes, eating the glue, making it unfeasible for pest control technicians to treat.  However, if you have stored boxes, you can dust the interior of the boxes…

How to Identify the Brown Recluse Spider

The brown recluse spider  has a violin shape on its head segment with the neck of the violin pointing toward the abdomen.  It has six eyes arranged in pairs, with one pair in front and a pair on either side of the head.  Both male and female are venomous, however the spiders are very timid.  Its body is not more than 3/8″ long.  Both the legs and the abdomen are uniformly colored.  The recluse is named aptly; it retreats…

Fire Ants

Call us to get on our fire ant list…then we will schedule you when the time is right to treat them!  At some time in late spring, fire ants swarm (leaving the colony to create more colonies) and begin foraging for food.  It is around this time that treating is most efficient as the ants will take the bait that is applied and the treatment can stop the new mounds from being formed.  Fire ants can still wander…

We specialize in long-lasting treatments using products in a way that effectively kills bugs but has no impact on people. No contracts are needed. We treat more than once a year about as often as we skip years between treatments.

Aztec’s philosophy is to provide the most effective pest control service available, having the least negative impact on people and the environment here in Austin, Texas. We use a combination of the least toxic and most effective pest control products available.

We originally offered pest control using only natural, “organic” pest control products. While we still offer that service, we now combine those products with a low-toxicity, odorless, synthetic pyrethrin (crushed chrysanthemum flower), offering a longer-lasting residual effect.
